A KEYBOARD MAGAZINE “Key Buy”! The most versatile organ/keyboard anywhere. For all practical purposes, the XK-3c is the “Upper Manual” of a B-3. All the familiar ingredients are there. Reverse Presets, Chorus- Vibrato on the left, Percussion on the right. A 2-tube preamp, and full MIDI controller capability are just a few of the features of this beast. The nameplate says “XK-3c” but play it, andyou’ll think “B-3”.

Hammond dropped the weight by utilizing advanced modeling techniques to move from the analog to the digital realm. Using Hammond's top of the line VASE III sound engine, the XK-3c is so convincing that even seasoned B3 players would be hard pressed to tell the difference. That means you get all the cool features you would expect from a digital keyboard, such as the ability to save and load presets, an LCD display, and MIDI input and output, without sacrificing sound.

While it's true that digital distortion has come a long way over the past fifteen years or so, lets face it; nothing beats the classic, warm, analog sound of real tube overdrive. That's why the Hammond XK-3c also incorporates a dual vacuum tube preamp using 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes. They can be used gently to add a warm, round color to the sound, or they can be overdriven to produce that classic Hammond growl.

That's why the XK-3c comes with 73 velocity-sensitive, vintage waterfall-style keys, 12 of which have the classic reverse pattern for loading presets on the fly. It also includes a walnut-finished cabinet and classic Hammond drawbars to complete the vintage look.
