Intelligent by Design

One of the coolest things about active loudspeakers is the lack of back-breaking racks of amps, crossovers and EQs that are often required to make passive speaker systems sound almost as good. But that comes with a trade-off—that extra weight is transferred to the loudspeaker, making it difficult for a single user to heave all that mass onto the top of a speaker stand. BEHRINGER EUROLIVE D Series' “Intelligent-Design” merges the best features of active loudspeakers with significantly lower weight through the use of switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and Class-D amplifier topology.

Class-D Amplifier Technology Delivers High Power With Low Weight
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class-AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only as it is needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces the power losses in the output devices. Although we didn't invent Class-D technology, our R&D Department has spent years perfecting our own version with all the benefits of reduced weight and cool running—and none of the drawbacks.

Massive Power to Size Ratio
At the heart of each B615D and B612D are two high-current amplifiers with a combined maximum output of 1500 Watts. These Class-D amps are capable of driving the speakers to their maximum without damage or distortion thanks to their internal active protection circuits. We wind the voice coils, process the paper pulp into cones—and even machine our own back plates. This enables us to control the quality, and frankly to make better components, like the long-excursion 12 and 15" LF transducers and state-of-the-art 1.75" titanium-diaphragm compression drivers we load into each and every B612D/B615D.

Instant PA System
With just a single EUROLIVE D Series loudspeaker and a microphone you can set up an instant sound system. Thanks to the built-in preamp section, you just connect a dynamic mic and raise and lower the volume with the Level control. Place the speaker on a tabletop or stand, and power up. It's just that easy. And if you need more coverage, say for a larger room or audience, you can add more active loudspeakers via the convenient Link Output XLR connector.

Stereo Music System
You can even use two D Series enclosures for stereo playback of your music sound files without any additional hardware. Just plug the appropriate stereo “breakout” adapter into your deck's output jack and run the cables to the 1/4" inputs on each loudspeaker. Set the Level and EQ controls the same on both enclosures. Voilà, instant party!

Marvelous as Monitors
Thanks to their trapezoidal design, these cabinets can be laid on their side providing the ideal angle for onstage monitor wedge applications. Hookup is simple, requiring only a single XLR or 1/4" cable from the monitor send on your mixing console and power. Additional monitors can be chained together via the XLR Link Output jack on the rear panel.

Powerful Low Frequency Response
The EUROLIVE D Series was built with extended low frequency handling in mind. Thanks to their internally braced, injection-molded, tuned-port enclosures, these bad boys really crank out serious quantities of bass. Which Speaker Should I Buy?
Well, let's start with your application… are you giving a speech in a hotel ballroom—or rocking out at the local bar or dance club? A 15" woofer has about 40% more surface area with which to move air than a 12" and that translates into more bass. So if you're addressing a meeting, or jamming at the local blues joint, the B612D might be all you'll ever need. But if you're providing disco in a busy nightclub, hosting Karaoke night in your living room, or just want a little more “thump”, then the B615D may be a better choice.

Equipped with a very efficient and lightweight two channel KLARK TEKNIK Class-D power amplifier, the iQ12 provides an impressive 2,500 Watts of output power. A high degree of control over the loudspeaker system's performance is managed by a sophisticated, but easy to use KLARK TEKNIKKLARK TEKNIK Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which provides dynamic EQ for remarkable full range response at low volume levels, and transparent limiting for the utmost clarity at high output levels - and long-term reliability. iQ12's advanced DSP speaker modelling presets include detailed and accurate models of some of the audio industry's most-respected loudspeakers.

KLARK TEKNIK also developed a highly versatile Spatial Contour Control (SCC) DSP function, which allows the user to easily optimise the iQ12's frequency response for the physical speaker placement. This advanced functionality provides frequency compensation for stand, floor, wall or ceiling placement, much like the adjustments commonly found on studio reference monitors.

On the rear panel amplifier module, you will find a fully featured user interface consisting of an LCD display, the Channel A and B gain controls, and a single rotary encoder for intuitive access to level, EQ, Speaker modelling, SCC, Subwoofer Integration and Feedback Control (FBI). In addition to the two combination balanced XLR/jack inputs, balanced XLR outputs for each of the two independent channels, and a Mix Out XLR connector, the iQ12 features a mic/line switch and level control with signal present LED on each channel.

The iQ12 also features our proprietary ULTRANET technology, which allows the use of CAT5 cables for transmitting pristine multi-channel audio signals and other information between ULTRANET-enabled products, such as digital mixers and personal monitor systems. This digital distribution networking not only eliminates the potential for RFI and crosstalk so common to analogue methods, but also significantly reduces the setup or installation time required. An onboard USB port provides access for remote control of the iQ12 via PC computer, as well as DSP and speaker modelling firmware updates.
The lightweight fibre glass reinforced composite enclosure is fitted with a rugged powder coated perforated steel mesh grille and multiple internal rigging points for permanent installations. Although we refer to it as a “column” loudspeaker, the INSPIRE iP2000 delivers the powerful, high-quality sound and optimised dispersion inspired by our award-winning line array products – in a surprisingly lightweight and easy to use, all- in-one form factor. Thanks to an on-board 3-channel digital mixer and multichannel 1,000-Watt Class-D amplifier driving a custom engineered 12" subwoofer, 16 x 2.75" neodymium drivers, and a horn loaded super tweeter, the iP2000 is ideally-suited for small to medium-sized performance venues, houses of worship, boardroom presentations, nightclubs, and much more.

Outstanding Sound Dispersion
Much like the huge line array systems you’ve experienced at concerts and outdoor festivals (we make those too), the 2.75" neodymium midrange / extended high-frequency drivers in the iP2000 columns are strategically placed to provide up to a 120° horizontal dispersion pattern. Such wide coverage eliminates the need for monitor wedges for the performers, and creates a more even, sonically balanced soundscape that covers the entire room. By taking advantage of the arrival-time differential between sound waves reaching the left and right ears, iP2000’s groundbreaking Spatial Sound Technology (SST) creates a wide, well-defined virtual 3-D acoustic environment, enveloping the listener in a rich and more realistic experience. DSP – the Secret to Superb Sound
From the instant your signal enters the iP2000, the built-in DSP takes over ensuring the highest possible signal integrity. Much more than just selective EQ enhancement, the 24-bit processor analyses the incoming signal and intelligently applies specific filters to actually improve the sound quality. It’s like having an audio engineer monitoring the input and output signals, dialing in the perfect EQ and constantly making subtle adjustments to the crossover, compressor/limiter, three discrete amplifier channels and more – all of which adds up to significantly better sound.

Reactive Alignment
The X12D offers Samson's proprietary Reactive Alignment digital signal processing technology. Through a meticulous study of transducer response, Samson engineers were able to program the ideal EQ adjustments needed to overcome traditional loudspeaker issues such as masked high frequencies from horn reflections and muddy mid-range from woofer surface reflections. In addition, the X12D’s crossover network features Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filters and transducer time alignment algorithms for superb frequency balance.

Designed to provide exceptional reliability, the X12D's integrated overcurrent and temperature sensors constantly monitor the power supply and amplifier while quietly applying necessary adjustments. No fans, no worries… just great sound.

Components & Design
The X12D features a custom 12” low frequency driver and a 1.34” titanium compression driver. Both drivers are carefully designed to provide fast recovery with minimal distortion. The compression driver is mounted to a 60° x 90° horn, matching the larger dispersion angle of the LF driver. This creates a balanced sound for the entire audience, especially when it comes to vocals that reside in the critical upper-mid frequencies.

Versatile Performance
The X12D’s dedicated 2-channel mixer provides Volume controls for each channel, as well as a Master Volume control for the system’s overall output level. In addition, Channel 1 features a Mic/Line switch for both microphone and line-level connections. The speaker’s XLR line output circuit gives you extra routing options to expand your system. The X12D delivers superior application flexibility with its 3-position high pass filter (HPF) and EQ presets. For additional versatility, its cabinet design supports dual-angle floor monitor positioning and provides a standard locking pole mount receptacle for stand and satellite mounting.

Rugged For The Road
With the most compact enclosure in its class, the X12D's lightweight casing is constructed of rigid polypropylene that is shaped to resist impact during transportation. A 14-gauge all-steel grill covers the entire front of the X12D, protecting the speaker components. In addition to its compact and lightweight design, two large recessed side carry handles further enhance the portability of the X12D.
