How Does Equalization Work?
Imagine the audio frequency range as a very wide highway with lots of “lanes”. Each of these lanes represents a specific frequency band.

• The lanes on the left side contain the really low frequency content, mainly bass, bass vocals, and the kick and tom drums
• The middle lanes make up the fundamental zone of most musical instruments and the male and female vocals

One Smart Solution

Using an ultra-fast feedback detection algorithm, the FBQ1000 automatically and “intelligently” locates up to 12 feedback frequencies per channel. The algorithm then sets extremely narrow notch filters (up to 1/60th of an octave) to “destroy” feedback frequencies, leaving the remainder of your signal virtually untouched. And with the “Set-and-Forget” default setting, your Feedback Destroyer can be up and running in a matter of seconds.

Ease of Operation

The Auto Mode continuously monitors the mix, resetting programmed filters automatically to eliminate the slightest hint of feedback, without you having to do anything at all. The Basics

The ADA8000 is a state-of-the-art 8-channel A/D (Analog to Digital) and D/A converter with 8 built-in IMP (Invisible Microphone Preamps) microphone preamps. You can plug in your favorite mics (ADA8000 even includes +48 V phantom power for studio-grade condenser mics) and record directly to your multitrack or computer-based recorder, thanks to the built-in ADAT® interface. Conversely, the ADA8000 can also be used to convert digital signals, from soundcards and other multitrack devices, back into analog audio.

The Technical Stuff

Signal conversion in the ADA8000 can take place at either 44.1 or 48 kHz with 24-bit resolution. The ADAT® inputs and outputs can be operated independently, as long as there is an identical wordclock signal. Frequency range is an ultra-wide 10 Hz to 21 kHz at a 48 kHz sampling rate.

The Ins and Outs

Balanced signals leaving the DI800 are extremely low impedance (typically less than 680 Ω), and far less susceptible to noise and interference.

1/4" In, XLR Out—Is That All?

One answer is to use a multi-channel DI box powered from the mains, and the BEHRINGER DI800, which can also run from phantom power, is a very cost-effective example of such a unit. I tested this unit at an outdoor event where multiple bands were taking part and found that it provided a reliable and quiet feed from all the sources I sent it, including an acoustic-guitar pickup system and a bass guitar.

The DI800 is a practical solution to many multi-channel DI requirements and delivers a very adequate level of studio quality at a bargain-basement price.

[…] The ground-lift works effectively, and on the whole this box gets on with its job while you get on with yours.

If all you need is multiple channels of DI capability for instrument, line or speaker signals, this is one of the most cost-effective solutions out there.

Summary

There’s nothing fancy about the DI800 but it does everything it should, the audio quality is fine and it is unbelievably cheap.

One Smart Solution
Using an ultra-fast feedback detection algorithm, the FBQ2496 automatically and “intelligently” locates up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel. Title: "Sound on Sound" June 2006 is Packed with Positive Coverage of BEHRINGER Products 

It starts with the supplement "Sound on Sound LIVE" where the BEHRINGER FBQ2496 feedback destroyer gets tested in depth. In his conclusion, the tester Mike Crofts summarises: "With 24-bit, 96kHz operation, audio quality at this price point is beyond criticism in my book and with its automatic setup process I think this is an interesting and effective product. The 1/60 octave filters don't, for me, have any detrimental effect on the overall sound, and they're extremely fast in operation. As with all gear for the road, only time will tell if it's exactly right for you, or me, but my first impressions are definitely favourable and I'll be using the FBQ2496as much as possible until they take it off me!"

Within the magazine itself, the Editor-in-Chief Paul White gives the XENYX 2442FX an extensive try on its launch month in the UK.
