What is Class-D Technology?

Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off , which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means our amps don’t need massive heat sinks, and that means we can make them lighter. Our no-compromise design means the new PMP mixers will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don’t require huge and heavy transformers, our Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo

Our latest PMP give you the choice of 2 x 800-Watt stereo, 2 x 800-Watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-Watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, PMP mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the PMP Series. The PMP6000 gives you 12 mic inputs while the PMP4000 and PMP1680S each give you 8 mic inputs.

Built-in Digital Effects Processor

The new generation of PMP mixers come equipped with 24-bit FX processors, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you’re pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processors features a footswitch jack for remote on/off . Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you’ve grown attached to, these mixers can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.

Changing the Channels
The PMP Series gives you excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 12 (PMP6000) or 8 (PMP4000 and PMP1680S) channels for mics, guitars and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 13-20 (PMP6000), 9-16 (PMP4000) and 7-10 (PMP1680S) are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable Low cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.

A STANDBY switch (PMP6000 and PMP1680S) mutes all mic channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.

The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.

The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/TAPE IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch eliminates the vocals from pre-recorded music for instant karaoke applications.

CD/TAPE OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output ¼" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MON SOUND output. Powered outputs on these mixers are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

Small, Simple, Superb
Medium-sized events call for a lightweight (PMP6000: 13.1 kg/ 28.9 lbs; PMP4000: 0.4 kg/22.9 lbs; PMP1680S: 9.9 kg/28.8 lbs), easy-to-use powered mixer. BEHRINGER powered mixers are the most efficient, affordable mixers for the job, and are even suitable for use as pure analog mixers or as pure power amplfiers. With new technological advantages and incredible built-in features, it’s easier than ever to lend exceptional sound quality to all kinds of public performances.

The Ins and Outs
The PMP980S and PMP960M give you loads of flexibility in accommodating whatever the center of attention happens to be. Channels 1-6 of both mixers are for mics, bass guitars or other mono instruments. The PMP980S features channels 7-8 and 9-10, which can be used as stereo channels. In the case of the PMP980S, that means you can connect up to 8 microphones or other mono instruments or six mics or mono instruments along with two stereo instruments (keyboards, for example) or the A/V equivalent.

In the bottom right corner of the mixer, you’ll find the FX, INPUT TO MAIN and OUTPUT sections. The FX section features a FOOTSW(itch) input. This lets you connect a footswitch like the AB200 so you can remotely enable/disable either FX channel. FX OUT 1 & 2 are used to connect up to two outboard effects processors.

The AUX IN 1/4" inputs in the INPUT TO MAIN section allow you to route an external stereo signal to the main mix. The AUX IN control adjusts the volume of the external signal in the main mix. Use the 2TR IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch allows you to eliminate the vocals from pre-recorded music for karaoke applications.

In the OUTPUT section, the REC OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device, so you can finally get to work on that triple-live album you’ve always dreamed of. The MAIN 1/4" connectors are there just in case you want to connect more amps. Connect your monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MONITOR output.

Channel Your Inner Sound Guru
You’ll be operating this mixer like it’s second nature thanks to its simple, intuitive layout. Each channel has a three-band EQ (HIGH, MID, LOW) blue; MON(itor) level in gray; FX1 in red; FX2 in orange (PMP980S only); PAN in black (only PMP980S); LEVEL in white. There’s also a switchable PAD and CLIP LED per channel.

Once you’ve set the levels on individual channels, it’s easy to create your MAIN and MONITOR mixers. The MAIN and MONITOR sections are nearly identical, featuring graphic 7-band EQs that allow you to adjust the sound to the room acoustics.

This is where the FBQ feature comes in particularly handy. Press the FBQ IN switch to activate the Feedback Detection System. Trouble frequencies are indicated by brightly lit fader LEDs. Just lower the level of the respective frequency range until feedback disappears and the LED goes out.

The FX RET controls add the selected effect signal to the main or monitor mix. When both are completely counterclockwise, no effect is applied. The 2TR IN control adjusts the volume of the 2 Track signal, if you have connected one. Use the MAIN MASTER/MONITOR MASTER controls to adjust the main and monitor output signals, respectively. The 5-digit LED meters give you a visual representation of these volumes. The upper LIM LED illuminates when output levels are too high, activating the internal amp protection circuit.

PMP980S’s POWER AMP switch toggles between three operating modes: STEREO, MON/MONO and BRIDGE (the power outputs of A and B on the back panel are added and provided at OUTPUT B). The PMP960M provides similar options: Bridge mono or dual mono (Output A can be used for mono Mains and Output B for Monitor Send 1, or Outputs A and B can be used as Main/Main). This clever functionality enables you to power both your mains and monitors without the need for an additional power amp just for your monitors.

Directly below, you’ll find the SPEAKER PROCESSING switch that activates a filter in both models, adapting the mixer to the frequency response of your loudspeakers.

Finally, the STANDBY switch lets you mute all input channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
The difference between these two mixers is that the PMP980S gives you two stereo channels. If you make your beer money playing in a bluegrass band at a barbecue joint, you probably aren’t that interested in making a space-age, multi-dimensional mix. This is just one example of where the PMP960M’s six mono channels would be a perfect match.

However, if you’re the brains behind a kraut-rock band with the wildest patches this side of Berlin, the two additional stereo channels on the PMP980S will provide the sonic latitude you need.
The PMP980S is also an excellent choice for a church, where vocals and stereo recordings share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Each of the mic inputs on the PMP980S and PMP960M contains top-quality built-in mic preamps with switchable +48V phantom power for condenser mics—just like in our studio mixers. Suddenly you can leave the mic preamps at home, and the kind of sound quality that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do.

Plus with the built-in 24-bit FX processor, you get 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus and reverb you can apply to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. No outboard gear needed — and the PMP980S comes with dual FX processors for double the effects!
These mixers come loaded with BEHRINGER’s amazing FBQ feedback detection system, which automatically pinpoints trouble frequencies so you can snuff them out before you—or the audience—go deaf. Just touch a button and watch as trouble frequencies are indicated by red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ.

We Hate to Call it a “Miracle Product,” but…
Like a souped-up blender capable of liquefying golf balls and soda cans, the Eurorack Pro RX1602 can mix just about anything into a delicious sonic puree. If you’re a keyboardist with more keyboards than pairs of socks, the RX1602 can submix all your inputs into a single stereo signal, saving you valuable inputs on your main mixer. Or, if you work frequently with hardware samplers in the studio, you can save yourself a ton of time by submixing your sampler’s outputs with the RX1602. This mixer also makes monitoring your home recordings a breeze. Just hook it up to your PC equipped with recording software or a multi-track recorder to quickly and easily create a tasty monitor mix. If a one-person band is more your style, the RX1602 provides the perfect solution for mixing down a mic preamp along with a keyboard. From there, you need only send a single signal to the house’s main mixer.

Channel With Care
The RX1602 comes equipped with all the necessary features to create the right mix for your sound. The 16 high-headroom inputs (8 stereo, 8 mono) can be used for individual line level instruments or component outputs. The ULN (Ultra Low-Noise) design’s high headroom means you can run up to 16 HOT inputs without clipping – and at the same time be assured that there won’t be any extra noise added by the mixer.

Each channel has its own balance and level controls, as well as illuminated double-function “mute” buttons with “clip” LEDs to help you avoid distortion. You also get highly accurate dual 7-segment LED level meters and an individual level control for left and right main mix signals. For further flexibility, the Monitor/FX signal is assignable to headphones. It all adds up to transparent, crystal-clear audio performance.

This new mixer presents a compact and elegant solution to the problem of mixing multiple stereo line sources in the home studio.

This 1U rackmount mixer is a simple but clean way to submix hardware synths to a single stereo feed that can be returned to a pair of inputs on a computer's audio interface.

Verdict

The RX1602 offers a compact and effective way to mix up to eight stereo line-level sources, and it does so very well. I now have one as part of my own studio system, and I'm sure many other musicians will find that it meets a need, both live and in the studio.

Channel Some Serious Mojo

Sometimes you feel like a mic… or a sampler…or a drum machine. Sometimes you don’t. Whatever the situation calls for, the RX1202FX is ready to accommodate. Each mono channel (1-8) features an XLR input, a balanced 1/4" mono input and an INSERT jack for patching external signal processors directly into the channel. Mono channels feature a TRIM control and CLIP LED to adjust the input gain; a two-band EQ (HIGH, MID and LOW controls); FX control to determine how much of an effect to apply to the channel; a PAN control; and a smooth 60mm fader to determine the channel’s level in the mix. Stereo channels (9-12) feature left and right balanced line level 1/4" inputs and the same front panel control as their mono counterparts. And, as mentioned above, they can be used as mono inputs themselves.

Taking Control
Smooth 60 mm faders and intuitive rotary dials make it quick and simple to create a killer mix. The MAIN MIX fader adjusts the volume of the main output signal while the dual 4-segment LED ladder display gives a visual representation of the signal level. The PHONES jack features a dedicated PHONES/ CONTROL ROOM dial for adjusting headphone volume. Push CD/TAPE TO MIX to add backing tracks from an MP3 or CD player, or to isolate a click track or scratch track in headphones while recording.

On the back panel, the LEFT and RIGHT MAIN OUT XLR jacks can be used to feed a recording device or PA system. For live performances, keep pre-recorded music cued up for between-set breaks by connecting a CD player or MP3 player via the stereo CD/TAPE IN jacks. If the band wants a recording of their performance, send signal to a recording device such as a mini-disc recorder via the CD/TAPE OUT jacks. Use the MON AUX SEND to send signal to floor monitors in a live setting, or to a headphone amp in a recording setting. When it’s time for playback of recorded material, send signal to studio monitors through the CTRL OUT jack.

If a recording session or live performance calls for an effect not programmed in the onboard FX processor, send signal to an outboard effects unit via the FX AUX SEND, then feed the signal back to the RX1202FX through the AUX RETURN jacks.

Effects, Effortlessly

The FX/CTRL section puts sophisticated digital effects at your fingertips. Use the PROGRAM dial to scroll through the effect presets, then use the FX TO MAIN dial to govern how much of the effect is heard in the summed signal of the mixer. Push FX SOLO to hear only the effects signal in your monitors or headphones.

Superior Sound, Unparalleled ValueIt’s nearly impossible to find a rack-mountable mixer loaded with the inputs, mic preamps and digital effects found in the RX1202FX. And with a price tag that’s well below what you would pay to purchase all these tools separately, the RX1202FX is the smartest way to make your studio, live band, church or conference sound like a million bucks.
