The Lineage
Nobody could have anticipated what would happen to the world of dance music when inventive musicians on both sides of the Atlantic embraced Roland’s now-legendary TB-303. Since the 1980s, it’s been a staple of electronic music—it is the defining sound of acid house, and has since been the marquee instrument on an array of groundbreaking electronic dance tracks. It’s not only been used to write songs, it’s had songs written about it. In fact, the release of the original TB-303 has been heralded as one of the key events in the history of dance music. Not bad for a little silver box.

The Sound
Launched in 1981, the TB-303 continues to be an indispensable bass synth for dance music. In developing the TB-3, we’ve meticulously analyzed the circuitry of the original TB-303 piece by piece, right down to the individual circuit behavior. Using Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, we’ve fully reproduced the TB-303’s sawtooth and square wave oscillators, as well as the -18dB per octave ladder low-pass filter used in the original, capturing that unmistakable cutoff and resonance character.

In addition to the faithful reproduction of classic TB tones, the TB-3 is packed with new sounds that live and breathe. Bubbling synth basses, hard distortion basses, trippy delay sounds, and drippy effects—they’re all here, and then some.

The Feel
A TB-303 bass part not only sounds unique—it has its own trademark feel as well. The TB pulses. It drives. It bubbles and it percolates. That’s why we’ve worked so hard to faithfully reproduce the accent, slide, and step sequencer behavior of the original unit. But our vision went beyond simple reproduction. The truth is, the step entry on the original TB-303 was difficult to use, the keyboard was difficult to play, and special maneuvers were required for the shuffle functions. So we experimented with a variety of prototypes in our quest to create the optimal TB interface.

Touch Pad
The new TB-3 is equipped with a brightly lit, pressure-sensitive touch pad that lets you seamlessly create patterns and interact with the unit during performance. In addition to pitch and volume, you can tweak filters and even control modulation by simply pressing down on the pad with your finger. It also makes the keyboard a breeze to play.

  • Envelope modulation and decay can be controlled with a single finger
  • Switch patterns, transpose, and chain patterns with finger gestures
  • Internally partitioned at keyboard intervals so it’s easy and natural to play in real time
  • XY Play—X for continuous pitch change, Y for volume, and pad pressure for modulation

Step Sequencer
The TB-3’s evolved step sequencer is a snap to use and allows seamless switching between pattern creation and performance. Of course, an attractive aspect of the original TB-303 was how it would sometimes generate unintended sounds as the user maneuvered through its complex and cryptic pattern-creation operation. In order to inject that element of chance and discovery, the TB-3 includes automatic pattern generation and random pattern modification functions.

Scatter
The TB-3’s Scatter function features slicing, reverse, gating, and other effects, allowing you to instantly create variations, stutters, and glitches that would normally require painstaking editing in a DAW. Complex, per-step functions are triggered easily with the touch pad and a single finger. You can keep things fresh and interesting with 8 different Scatter variations and 10 levels of Scatter depth—all controllable in real time and in perfect sync.

A Few More Things
The TB-3 looks great, and is designed to work seamlessly with other products in the AIRA series. In addition, you can connect the TB-3 to your computer via USB to send and receive both audio and MIDI data, including MIDI clock information for syncing with external devices and other AIRA units.
TB-3 Version 1.1 Update

15 Drum Kits for Playing Any Style of Music
An acoustic drum kit needs to be set up to play a specific style of music, so you’re stuck with one type of sound. But that’s not the case with the TD-1KV—it includes 15 quality drum kits on board, so you can play any kind of music you want at the touch of a button, from rock and blues to jazz, world music, EDM, and beyond. At one practice session, you can rock hard with a heavy bottom-end sound, then instantly change kits to recreate the sound of your favorite band. Every kit reacts just like the acoustic and electronic kits they emulate, giving you a huge range of variety in one compact, standalone instrument.

Develop Authentic Techniques with Responsive Pads and Cymbals
Some drummers avoid electronic drums; worried they won’t play like their acoustic counterparts. There’s no need for concern with the Roland TD-1KV—it fully supports essential acoustic playing techniques, which is especially important for beginners to learn to play correctly. Every drum sound offers a wide dynamic range and natural tone, and the PDX-8 mesh-head snare provides an authentic feel with independent head and rim triggering. Unlike typical entry-level sets, the TD-1KV’s cymbals include the advanced expressiveness found in all TD-series V-Drums modules, including bow and edge sounds and support for cymbal chokes. The hi-hat reacts to the nuances of your footwork, bringing personality and character to your playing. Great drumming is all about feel, and so is the TD-1KV.

Stay Motivated with Onboard Training Functions That Make Learning Fun
Built right into the TD-1KV is a wealth of enjoyable functions to encourage learning, no matter whether you’re teaching yourself to play, studying regularly with an instructor, or simply want to keep your skills polished. Think of this kit as your own live-in drum teacher and personal backing band, packed with tutorial features that develop technique, boost motivation, and help you get the most out of practice time. Play along with the onboard metronome to tighten your timing, and use Coach mode to build and maintain speed, stamina, and accuracy. Get ready for your first band by jamming with the internal songs in the sound module, or connect a smartphone or music player via the Mix In jack and drum along with your favorite tunes. With the onboard recording function, you’ll get instant feedback of your progress as well as quickly capture and playback a new fill or creative groove.

Practice at Home with Headphones and Ultra-Quiet, Beater-Free Kick Drum
Traditional acoustic drums are extremely loud. Playing them at home is fun for you, but can be a problem for everyone else around! Quieter operation is a major benefit of electronic drums, and the Roland TD-1KV is particularly quiet where it counts, thanks to the sound module’s headphone jack and the noise-reducing design of the mesh-head PDX-8 snare and the tom/cymbal pads. While many electronic drum kits annoy the neighbors as the beater strikes the kick drum, the TD-1KV reduces volume with a special beater-less pedal design. Optional NE-10 Noise Eater units can be used under the kick and hi-hat pedals to further reduce noise transfer to other rooms below.

Fits in Your Practice Space and Adjusts to Your Playing Style
Inviting a supersize acoustic drum kit into your home is a big deal. Do you lose the spare room upstairs, or try and cram it into your living room? The space-saving TD-1KV is a far more practical choice, fitting into the tightest living spaces with a stylish, modern look that lets life carry on around it. For added functionality, the sturdy, ergonomic drum rack is easily adjustable, allowing the drum positions to be set up for everyone from children to adults. In addition, the height of each cymbal and the angle of the snare pad can also be fine-tuned for your comfort and playing style. The TD-1KV is perfect for students, but it’s also a great choice for an experienced drummer who needs a kit for home practicing or backstage warm-up.

A Drum Set That Evolves with Your Playing
As your playing takes off, you don’t want your drum kit to hold you back. The Roland TD-1KV can grow with you, thanks to a range of optional extras that let the kit advance with you. You can add an extra cymbal with the additional OP-TD1C Cymbal Pad, or swap out the standard kick pedal for the KT-10 or KD-9 models used in Roland’s more advanced V-Drums. With other accessories including the NE-10 Noise Eater, TDM-3 V-Drums Mat, and PM-03 Personal Drum Monitor, the TD-1KV is an electronic kit that will go the distance.

Record on Your Computer Using One Standard USB Cable
The TD-1KV is not just fun to play by itself—it’s also a great way to make music with your computer. Included is a built-in USB-MIDI interface, making it simple to communicate with music software via just a USB cable, with no extra hardware needed. Maybe you’ll transfer your playing into your computer-based recording software, capturing a live drum feel in your latest masterpiece. Or perhaps you’ll use Roland’s free V-Drums Friend Jam series applications, which offer jam tracks, practice features, and the ability to compete with V-Drums users across the planet. For more in-depth education, the powerful DT-1 V-Drums Tutor provides a fun, dynamic platform for learning notation and essential drum techniques. Whatever application you chose, the TD-1KV is a drum kit that lets you go places.

Simple Operation Lets You Start Rocking in Minutes
If you think that electronic drums are complicated, think again—using the TD-1KV is as simple as it gets. With its clear layout, the control panel lets you access all functions quickly and easily, and you can see info at a glance with the LED display and the metronome’s flashing tempo indicator.

ZOOM A3 Pre-Amp & Effects for Acoustic Guitar
Acoustic Revelation.
Pickup systems are the most popular option for amplifying acoustic guitars on stage, however most are unable to capture the unique tone of each instrument. As a result, different guitars can take on similar flat, electric-acoustic characteristics and they all sound the same when amplified or plugged into a PA.

Zoom’s A3 is the first pedal of its kind. It allows players to restore the natural tone of their acoustic guitars while continuing to use pickup systems for amplification. In addition to being a powerful acoustic preamp, the A3 offers unrivaled acoustic remodeling features, amazing acoustic effects and much more for crafting acoustic guitar sounds for both live and studio applications.

Elements of design.
Within a heavy duty, die-cast body, the A3 features a main EFFECT footswitch, two secondary footswitches (ANTI FEEDBACK and BOOST), as well as a large LCD and a variety of analog-style cursor keys and parameter knobs that together form an easy-to-use graphical interface. This intuitive design makes restoring the tone of your acoustic guitar, as well as creating and saving new acoustic tones, a breeze and provides easy navigation in live and studio settings.

Restore your sound.
By selecting the body and model type of the guitar that you’re playing, you can restore the true sound of your acoustic guitar. The A3 offers a selector for 16 body types and 28 models that simulate the sonic characteristics of various acoustic guitars with different body shapes and constructed of different materials.

16 Body Types.
The A3 allows you to choose from 16 guitar body types to re-create the signature sounds of differing body shapes. From the Dreadnought body setting, which generates a large tone full of rich low frequencies, to the Orchestra body setting, featuring an outstanding response and tonal balance, the A3 has the ability to remodel the sonic qualities of a wide range of unique body types.

28 Models.
The A3 also has the ability to recreate the distinct sound components of 28 of the world’s most famous acoustic guitars. The A3 even accounts for the subtlest of differences between these models. The pedal accurately recreates the tone differences between guitars with the same body shape, but different bracing or wood from which they are made (spruce, mahogany, rosewood, etc.).

Acoustic preamp for both pickups and mics.
The A3’s pre-amp, specifically designed for acoustic guitars, can be used with piezoelectric, magnetic and passive pickups. In addition, the pedal’s XLR-1/4-inch combination Mic input, which can provide phantom power, allows you to connect a microphone and mix its signal with that of your pickup via dedicated knobs. The A3’s pre-amp section also features a 3-band EQ for adjusting your guitar tone according to your performance environment and a BALANCE knob to set the ratio of the original sound (DRY) and the sound after adding effects (WET).

40 acoustic effects.
With a focus on spatial effects, including chorus, delay and reverb, the A3 offers 40 diverse types of acoustic effects to enhance the sound of your guitar. Effects range from compressors that suppress input peaks and even out sound levels to detuning effects that create the sound of a 12-string guitars and everything in between. With the A3, you can use up to two effects and one acoustic guitar model simultaneously and arrange them in any order you like. You to create and store up to 20 original patches on the A3.

Eliminate feedback on up to three frequencies simultaneously.
If you experience feedback from your acoustic guitar during a performance, just engage the A3’s ANTI FEEDBACK footswitch. While keeping changes to your tone to a minimum, the ANTI FEEDBACK function will detect the frequency that is causing the feedback and eliminate it with a steep filter. Later, if you experience additional feedback, just hit the footswitch again. The ANTI FEEDBACK function can handle up to three problematic frequencies at once.

Boost your sound up to 12dB.
The A3’s BOOST function can be used to reduce volume differences between fingerpicking, chord strokes and other playing techniques, as well as to increase amplification during solos. The pedal can provide a clean boost of up to 12dB. You can also use the TONE parameter to adjust the sound of the level increase when the BOOST is active.

The most realistic sounds to date.
The all-new ZFX-IV DSP effects processor boasts amazing power and clarity, upgrading everything from sound to functionality and operability over previous ZFX versions. By using 32-bit floating-point processing, the A3 can produce sounds that are more realistic than ever before.

Stereo or headphone out.
The A3 features two 1/4-inch outputs that allow you to maximize the characteristics of the pedal’s stereo effects and record them using line level connections. In addition, you can connect headphones directly to the A3 and listen to your tones no matter where you are.

Precise tuning.
The pedal’s auto-chromatic tuner offers smooth, real-time response with precise bass tuning and accuracy. Whether you’re in the middle of a performance or practicing alone, simply hold down the pedal’s footswitch to start getting your strings back in tune. In addition, the A3’s LCD makes the tuner easy to see on a dark stage. You can also tune silently in the tuner’s MUTE mode or with all effects bypassed in its BYPASS mode.

Tap the tempo.
Use the Tap Tempo feature to match the tempo of a song in real-time as you play. You can also use it for delay times and modulation effect frequencies.
The tuner cannot be used when the tap tempo function is active.

Pick your patch order.
With the A3, you can program which patches are recalled and the order in which they appear. For example, you could select three patches—(A) ARPEGGIO, (B) RHYTHM and (C) SOLO—and program the A3 to cycle through only those three tones each time you press the footswitch.

Balanced XLR output for DI use.
With the pedal’s balanced XLR output, you can avoid using DI boxes completely. Just connect the A3 to any mixing console to maintain a balanced, high quality signal. The pedal’s GROUND switch can also be used to eliminate hum caused by ground loops.

Dedicated pickup input.
Piezoelectric pickups tend to capture high frequencies far better than the lows, giving you a thin sound. On the other hand, magnetic pickups allow the low end to dominate your tone and produce more of an electric sound. The A3 features a pickup input to compensate for frequency ranges that are lost or overemphasized by your pickups. As such, the A3 can optimize your tone according to the pickup characteristics of you guitar.

You can use the FLAT setting to bypass pickup input compensation.

Super-low noise design.
The A3’s super-low noise design virtually eliminates background noise and the ZNR noise reduction removes feedback and other unwanted sounds, providing you with clear tones, along with natural decay and reverb tails.

Power proof.
The A3 can operate on three different power sources: AC adapter (included), batteries or USB bus power when plugged into your computer. Four AA alkaline batteries (not included) provide up to eight hours of continuous use.

Firmware updates for the A3 can also be performed when plugged into your computer via USB.
