Sample simplicity
MPX16 is an advanced sample player with sixteen backlit velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads. With it, musicians, producers and performers can trigger sound samples stored on standard SD or SDHC cards. Insert the SD card, assign its contents to any of the MPX16’s pads, and go. At home in the studio as part of a producer's rig or on stage as a solution for triggering critical sounds, MPX16 is a compact sampling powerhouse.

In and Out
While the hyper-responsive trigger pads and backlit display make tapping into your sample library a simple task, the integrated audio inputs empower you to add to it. Two ¼-inch (6.3mm) jacks let you connect your studio gear or other sound sources to the MPX16 for sample capture. Onboard editing tools provide sample trimming and pad assignment for immediate synergy into a production or performance. Use the headphone jack to monitor your captures, or send the audio to a mixer, monitors, a recording interface, etc using the ¼-inch main outs. A built-in mic provides immediate sample capture for those times when inspiration strikes; a dedicated Record Gain knob ensures you get it right.

USB & MIDI
MPX16’s flexibility goes beyond pad-triggered audio playback and capture. The full-size rear-panel USB port lets you drag & drop samples from your computer and even use the MPX16 as an SD card reader/writer. A 5-pin MIDI input means SD samples may be triggered from any MIDI-enabled gear such as keyboards, pad controllers, synths and electronic drums. Edit with Ease
With the included Akai Pro MPX File Conversion Utility software (free download), managing computer-based samples and moving them to the SD card is intuitive. This software converts sound files into .WAV format for seamless playback on the MPX16. Samples may be edited from the MPX16's onboard sample processor; tuning, pad groups, envelopes, sample trimming, panning, and volume are tweakable right from the MPX16’s top-panel controls.

The Playing Field
The SPD-SX is equipped with nine highly sensitive rubber pads with two independent real-time control knobs and four dedicated effect buttons. Roland’s most advanced triggering technology ensures the ultimate in accuracy and fully dynamic performance, while a large backlit LCD provides easy-to-read data in all varieties of environments. Each pad has a companion LED that illuminates to show the pad’s status. When you trigger sample phrases, the LEDs remain lit to show you which pads are in play and which are not. In addition, the LEDs change illumination strength according to audio-level activity (similar to level meters on a mixing board). The high-contrast red divider lines help you see the pad zones clearly onstage.

Improved Playability and Functionality
Today, increasing numbers of drummers and percussionists need to incorporate audio samples into their performance. The SPD-SX will satisfy their increasing requirements with essential features such as individual click output routing, dedicated volume controls, Pad Check function, individual Sub Out, and more.

Onboard Effects
The SPD-SX has three multi-effects units onboard: one master unit and two units that are assignable per kit. The master effects engine lets you perform in real time like a DJ using the dedicated front-panel controls. Get your hands on the filter, delay, short looper, and user-assignable effect — all of which can be creatively adjusted with the four front-panel buttons and two control knobs.

Multi-Pad Sampling
There’s much more to the SPD-SX than meets the eye. A powerful-yet-friendly lineup of features has been built into this little powerhouse, such as Multi-Pad Sampling. While audio streams in from an external audio player or computer (via Audio In or USB), simply strike each pad at the appropriate start/end points, and the sample will be automatically truncated and assigned to that pad. It’s a fast, friendly way to create multi-sampled phrases and pad maps.

SPD-SX Wave Manager Software Included
The SPD-SX’s generous internal memory (2 GB) lets you store and carry your entire sample library inside. With no external memory required, you can house approximately 360 minutes of audio (10,000 files) at 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, mono. The built-in USB ports let you directly import audio files from USB flash memory. The bundled SPD-SX Wave Manager software app lets you import audio files directly from computer via USB, assign the samples to each pad, and organize the thousands of samples efficiently.

With Version 2, you can control the start of Phrase Loop using pad velocity, buttons presses, and/or a footswitch (optional). Additionally, you can toggle freely between solo play (Kit mode) and phrase play (Phrase Loop mode). Nineteen new phrases have been added to the onboard library, which adds exciting performance and recording possibilities.

Useful Kit Chains for live performance (Version 2)
There are eight banks of Kit Chains onboard conveniently organized into musical style and instrument categories. Select from Drum Kits, Percussion, Orchestra Perc, Club Sounds, Melodic Perc, Melodic Synth, Sound Effects, and Expanded Kits. Use the Chains as is, or easily edit them to best suit your live-performance needs.

Output Gain Function (Version 2)
A new Output Gain function has been added to increase the overall output of the OCTAPAD SPD-30. It provides a +6 dB boost when a stronger signal is needed.

Sound Edit
Unlike the original Octapad PAD-8, which was strictly a MIDI controller, the Octapad SPD-30 is a controller that’s packed with its own internal bank of sounds. You can customize the sounds with the onboard controls for tuning, muffling, attack, pitch sweep, and more. It’s like having a truckload of customizable drum and percussion instruments in one portable package.

Multi-Effects

After making acoustic drums for more than 40 years and acquiring deep and highly detailed knowledge of drums in the process, Yamaha has developed the DTX-PAD, an 8-inch electronic snare and tom drum pad with a realistic feel. The drum head is made of TCS (textured cellular silicone), and uses a free-floating construction for increased sensitivity that virtually eliminates cross talk. When we were developing this pad, we had it evaluated repeatedly by the world's top drummers. The detailed sense of perfection of these drummers is reflected in this drum pad. As a result, this drum pad performs superbly. At the same time, it is fantastically quiet. Its excellent feel and quietness make it ideal for home use. The pad is divided into 3 zones and supports open rimshots and closed rimshots.

In addition, you can assign different voices to different zones. This makes highly original performances possible.
