DW 5002AD3 Delta II Accelerator Drum Workshop's 5000 Series Accelerator Chain-Drive Double Pedal features a host of refinements and upgrades to its original, performance-proven design. The 5002AD3 features a strap drive with accelerator (meaning offset cams). Other features include aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates, and linkages. Dual/side-adjusting hoop clamps, 2-way beaters, and built-in spurs. All of the above aid in the pedal's versatility, adjustability, and reliability. These aspects allows players to customize the feel and performance to fit the way they play. And the patented Single Post Casting design provides ease of movement between the pedal and hi-hat, also allowing the pedals to be played independently or simultaneously. The pedal comes standard with a DW ultra hardshell case for lasting

A host of refinements and upgrades, the legendary line of 5000 Series bass drum pedals features a choice of drive systems (all pictured below), aluminum hex shafts, pedal plates and linkages, dual side adjusting hoop clamp, 101 two-way beater, and built in spurs. These pedals can be customized to fit the needs of any player. (U.S. Patent Nos. 5204485, 4756224, 5431081, 5578777. Foreign Patents Pending.)
The Accelerator™ (AD3) drive system offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity.

The Accellerator DW 5002AD3 cam is elliptical, that is, kind of egg shaped. it takes less energy to move it through the end part of it's revolution. I guess the thinking is, that it 'speeds up' or provides more power and angst towards the end of it's stroke.
The Turbo DW 5002TD3 sprocket is round, so the revolution of the cam is equal throughout it's stroke. This is the same theory Pearl and Tama invented for their Iron Cobra power glide/roling glide pedals and Pearl's interchangeable cams.
