The Turbo™ (TD3) concentric drive system maintains a direct relationship between the sprocket and the footboard to provide a solid, powerful, consistent feel and response
The Accellerator DW 5002AD3 cam is elliptical, that is, kind of egg shaped. it takes less energy to move it through the end part of it's revolution. I guess the thinking is, that it 'speeds up' or provides more power and angst towards the end of it's stroke.
The Turbo DW 5002TD3 sprocket is round, so the revolution of the cam is equal throughout it's stroke. This is the same theory Pearl and Tama invented for their Iron Cobra power glide/roling glide pedals and Pearl's interchangeable cams.
